SUMMARY

  • Netherlands-based Solarix, a startup creating innovative coloured solar panels for building facades, has raised €4.2 million in funding.

The round saw participation from ROM InWest, VP Capital, and several private investors, alongside support from existing backers—strengthening Solarix’s financial foundation for future growth.

Solarix has also secured €1.3 million from the National Growth Fund to support its plans. If targets are met the partnership could expand, unlocking more funds.

The company is also applying for an RVO subsidy to help automate its assembly process and manage its colour technology in-house. This move will boost panel efficiency and streamline production.

The funding will help Solarix grow its network in Europe while maintaining a strong presence in the Netherlands, where its coloured solar facade panels are already used in multiple projects.

Solarix partners with local resellers across Europe to scale its technology with regional expertise. This round follows a €900K investment from ROM InWest two years ago.

Founded in 2018 by Marloes van Heteren and Reinier Bosch, Solarix creates stylish, coloured solar panels designed for building facades.

The goal is to help buildings cut CO₂ emissions by at least 25% or reach full energy neutrality by generating power from vertical surfaces.

With its own colour technology, curated design collections, and custom mounting systems, Solarix integrates solar panels into both functional and visually appealing facades.

The team combines expertise in design, architecture, solar tech, engineering, finance, and sales—ensuring both performance and aesthetics.

Facades play a crucial role in meeting sustainability standards like BENG and GPR, while freeing up roofs for other uses like green spaces or extra installations.

“With our design solar facades, we offer a smart answer to grid congestion, sustainable building requirements and the growing demand for architectural quality. We’re excited to help even more buildings across Europe generate clean energy — right from the facade,” says the company in a LinkedIn post.
