Yvonne Bajela Launches $17Mn Evertrue Capital Fund to Back European AI Startups

Yvonne Bajela, a former partner at London-based venture capital firm Phoenix Court, has launched her first independent investment fund worth $17 million. She previously backed successful companies such as fintech giant Wise and insurance startup Marshmallow.

SUMMARY

  • Yvonne Bajela has launched Evertrue Capital, a new $17 million investment fund.
  • The fund will support pre-Seed AI and technology startups across the UK and Europe.
  • The fund aims to back at least 20 startups over the next three years.

The new fund is called Evertrue Capital. Bajela plans to use it to find and support promising AI startups across Europe.

The launch comes as investors are showing growing interest in Europe's AI sector. Many are looking to back the next successful AI companies, following the growth of startups such as Lovable and ElevenLabs.

Evertrue Capital has received backing from Bajela's former employer, Phoenix Court, through its fund-of-funds Basecamp. Other backers include the British Business Bank, Better Society Capital, Bootstrap 4F, Allocator One, as well as founders, business operators and general partners from Evertrue's network.

Bajela, founder and general partner, Evertrue Capital, says she plans to invest in founders with “deep problem expertise” and the “discipline to build on it before consensus catches up”.

She said: “Over the past decade, I’ve backed founders who went on to build billion-dollar companies, and almost none of them looked obvious at the start.

“The best moment to invest is before the market has proof. That belief has shaped Evertrue. We make concentrated, early bets and give founders the capital, access and support to build companies of consequence.”

Evertrue Capital will typically invest around £350,000 in each startup. The fund will focus on early-stage AI and technology companies at the pre-Seed stage across the UK and Europe.

Although its $17 million fund is relatively small, this is not unusual for a first-time investment fund. Evertrue Capital plans to invest in at least 20 startups over the next three years.
