The funding will support Subra’s acquisition of THEVA Dünnschichttechnik, a Germany-based manufacturer of superconducting materials.
By combining Subra’s advanced superconducting cable technology with THEVA’s expertise in material science and manufacturing, the merged company aims to become a European leader in high-performance superconductors for energy systems, infrastructure, and industrial applications.
The move also strengthens Europe’s supply chain resilience and technological independence in a strategic sector.

Founded in 2014 as a spin-off from the Technical University of Denmark, Subra develops high-temperature superconductor (HTS) cable solutions. Its product, SUBRACABLE, improves energy efficiency, flexibility, and scalability, with cable lengths exceeding 10 kilometres.
The new funding will help integrate operations, expand manufacturing capacity, and accelerate product development for energy, research, and industrial applications worldwide.
