SUMMARY

  • LightSeeds, a Neuchâtel-based CleanTech startup, has secured €162K (CHF 150K) from Venture Kick to accelerate the commercialisation of its vertical solar system.

The funding will support business development and help the company scale from early traction to wider market deployment.

Operating in the rapidly growing global solar market, LightSeeds focuses on using vertical infrastructure such as roads, railways, and industrial buildings to generate energy.

By transforming underutilised surfaces into scalable solar assets, the company aims to deliver cost-efficient and innovative renewable energy solutions.

Founded in 2024 by Laure-Emmanuelle Perret and Pierrick Duvoisin, LightSeeds brings together over 30 years of combined experience in photovoltaics, industrial design, and innovation. The team includes experts across technology, industrialisation and business development to scale its solution globally.

The company addresses a key limitation in traditional solar systems, which rely on heavy and fragile glass panels that are costly to install and unsuitable for many vertical surfaces like roads, railways and industrial buildings. As a result, large areas remain unused for solar energy generation.

LightSeeds solves this by developing ultra-light, unbreakable photovoltaic systems designed specifically for vertical use.

Its glass-free modules and modular mounting system enable faster installation with lower costs and reduced environmental impact, while unlocking new urban and infrastructure-based solar applications.

Targeting a vertical solar market estimated at over €433 billion the company serves both B2B clients such as industrial facilities and agricultural operators and public infrastructure projects, with early traction in Switzerland and expanding across Europe.

“Venture Kick has been a key support for LightSeeds. Beyond the funding, the process helped refine the business model, validate the target market and accelerate the move from technology to commercial deployment,” says CEO Laure-Emmanuelle Perret.
