WAD Capital Secures €67.5 Mn for SME Acquisition Strategy Across Europe

Belgian investment firm WAD Capital has closed the first round of its fund with €67.5 million in funding.

- WAD Capital closed its first fund at €67.5 million, including a €25 million investment from the European Investment Fund.
- WAD Capital has completed eight acquisitions in less than a year.
- The firm aims to grow the fund to €130 million and expand its investment platform across Europe.
The European Investment Fund (EIF) invested €25 million, making it the largest investor in WAD Capital’s first fund.
Based in Ghent, Belgium, WAD Capital invests in small and mid-sized European companies that are facing leadership or succession problems.
WAD Capital then works with carefully selected operators to take over and run these businesses. The firm plans to grow its fund from €67.5 million to a target of €130 million

“Eight acquisitions in less than a year and a substantial investment from the European Investment Fund. This shows our model is scalable, and that Europe also recognises the importance of what we do,” said Steven Coppens, Managing Partner at WAD Capital.
Founded in 2023 by Christopher Tournis Gamble, Steven Coppens, and Alain Brossé, WAD Capital is building a large investment platform in Europe focused on “Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition.”
The firm invests in profitable small and medium-sized businesses (SMEs) with annual EBITDA of €1 million to €5 million. It mainly targets companies in the Benelux, northern France, and western Germany, especially in healthcare, energy and climate transition, and business services.
