Pistachio Acquires Hugin.io to Expand AI Cybersecurity and Compliance Services

Pistachio, an Oslo-based AI company, has acquired the intellectual property (IP) of Hugin.io, a Norwegian cybersecurity platform. Hugin.io helps growing businesses assess and manage their cyber risks.

SUMMARY

  • Pistachio has acquired the IP of Norwegian cybersecurity platform Hugin.io.
  • The deal will help Pistachio expand from human risk management into compliance management.
  • Its new product is expected to launch in 2027, helping businesses improve security and stay audit-ready.

The platform also helps companies show their cybersecurity readiness and meet regulatory requirements. With the acquisition, Pistachio plans to expand its services beyond human risk management.

The company will now also offer compliance management solutions for small and medium-sized businesses and mid-market organisations. The financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Joe Jones, Pistachio CEO and co-founder, said, “Organisations are being asked to meet increasingly complex security requirements, but few have the resources to manage them. We built Pistachio around the idea that effective cybersecurity should not require constant effort from already stretched teams. Bringing Hugin’s technology into the platform is a natural next step, allowing us to extend that approach from human risk into compliance and help more organisations build resilience without adding another layer of complexity.”

Jørgen Færevaag, co-Founder and CEO, Hugin.io, said, “Cybersecurity is one of the most significant challenges for growing businesses. The issue is not simply knowing that requirements exist, but understanding what applies to your organisation, where the gaps are and what needs to be done to address them. Hugin’s technology makes that process simpler and more accessible. With Pistachio, the technology will reach a much larger customer base as part of a broader cybersecurity platform, putting know-how in the hands of those that need it most as they scale.”

The new product is expected to officially launch in 2027. It will help organisations define, measure, and improve their security, while also providing tools to manage devices and applications.

Pistachio says the product will help growing businesses stay secure and ready for audits at all times. It will also reduce the need for time-consuming manual work to meet certification requirements.
