SUMMARY

  • Vilnius-based startup Backoffice, which develops an operations management platform for restaurants, cafés and hotels, has raised €150,000 in funding to support its expansion across Europe.

Founded in 2025 by Erikas Pakėnas and Denis Stech Backoffice is building a platform aimed at streamlining daily operations in the hospitality and food service industry, including shift management payroll and internal communication.

The company says its system enables employees to swap shifts more easily, record working hours, and monitor earnings, with the goal of replacing fragmented tools such as spreadsheets and messaging apps with a single centralized platform.

Its software covers scheduling, time tracking, compliance, training, procurement, and real-time business analytics, giving operators visibility into performance metrics such as labour costs and margins.

Backoffice uses a pricing model based on per-location fees rather than per-employee charges, and supports multi-location and multi-venue operations. Business owners can view performance across all sites or drill down into individual locations, with consolidated reporting at group level.

The platform is already active in more than 40 locations across Lithuania, including Michelin-starred restaurants and popular venues such as Džiaugsmas, Pleassurie, Tempo, Ahha, Meating Room, Burro, Momo Grill, and Pacai. Around 500 users currently use the system.

“I grew up watching my mum run her restaurant and bakery business: long hours, constant schedule changes, staff shortages. The people who build businesses like this love people, love the industry, and are deeply hospitable but they’re often drowning in operational work. Backoffice is an attempt to change that,” said Erikas Pakėnas, founder, Backoffice.
