Gate2Brain's funding comes at a time when investors across Europe are continuing to support biotech companies. In 2026, a large amount of biotech funding has gone into areas such as cancer treatments, technologies that help medicines reach the brain and central nervous system (CNS), RNA-based therapies, protein degradation research, and tools that improve clinical trials.
Founded in 2020, Gate2Brain is a biotech company that develops new treatments designed to reach parts of the body that are usually difficult for medicines to access, especially the brain. Its goal is to help drugs cross protective barriers such as the blood-brain barrier, which often prevents treatments from reaching brain tumors and other brain diseases.
The company uses its own patented peptide-based technology platform to deliver medicines more effectively. This innovative approach aims to improve the success of treatments for serious conditions affecting the brain and central nervous system.
Gate2Brain has received backing from several well-known public and private organizations, including Fundación Botín (Mind the Gap), Banco Sabadell’s BStartup Health program, CDTI Innovación, the European Innovation Council (EIC Accelerator), ACCIÓ Startup Capital, and Fundación ”la Caixa”.
A major part of the new partnership will focus on G2B-002, Gate2Brain’s lead drug candidate, which is being developed to treat diseases affecting the brain and central nervous system.
G2B-002 uses Gate2Brain’s proprietary MiniAp4 peptide shuttle technology. This technology is designed to help medicines cross the blood-brain barrier, a natural protective layer that often prevents drugs from reaching the brain.
In preclinical studies, G2B-002 showed promising results. The treatment was able to deliver medicine more effectively to the brain and reduce side effects in children with brain tumors, compared with traditional treatment approaches.
By combining Gate2Brain’s drug-delivery technology with Shilpa’s experience in manufacturing, product development, and regulatory processes, the two companies aim to speed up the development of G2B-002 and bring it closer to patients.
The partnership will also help Gate2Brain expand its technology beyond G2B-002. The company plans to apply its platform to other treatments for diseases affecting the brain and central nervous system (CNS).
This collaboration is an important step in advancing G2B-002 from laboratory and preclinical testing to clinical development. It supports Gate2Brain’s mission to create better treatment options for children with brain cancer and other CNS diseases, with the goal of helping more patients and families affected by these serious conditions.
