Underwater communication is still a major challenge because traditional wireless systems do not work well below the surface. They often have limited range, slow data speeds, and unstable connections, making work more difficult in marine research, infrastructure inspection, offshore operations, and defence.

Founded in 2026 by Samira Baumann, Alissa Wyss, and Mathias Werder, Subatron is a Swiss engineering startup that develops underwater communication technology. The company is working to make data transmission underwater faster, more reliable, and more stable.
Its technology helps improve real-time communication for underwater vehicles, divers, sensors, and monitoring systems. Subatron aims to support industries such as marine research, offshore energy, infrastructure inspection, environmental monitoring, and defence.
The funding will be used to support pilot projects, improve the product for large-scale manufacturing, and complete the required certifications.
It will also help Subatron expand its business internationally, strengthen its intellectual property (IP) portfolio, and prepare for its market launch in Switzerland and across Europe.
