SUMMARY

  • Molfar Defence Technologies, a Polish-Ukrainian defence tech company, has closed the first tranche of a €2 million funding round to advance its tactical radar systems for detecting and tracking small unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The round was led by Swedish investment firm Front Ventures, which committed €1.5 million as the first institutional investor.

Founded in 2026, Molfar is building advanced radar technology designed for early detection, localisation, and tracking of small, low-flying drones in complex operational environments. The company aims to address a critical gap in modern air defence systems by enabling reliable drone detection at the tactical level.

Its core technology uses a proprietary multidimensional target representation system combined with advanced signal processing to distinguish drones from other airborne objects even in challenging weather and electromagnetic conditions. The system is designed for resilience with built in features that reduce detectability and enhance performance in contested environments.

Molfar’s radar systems are available in modular configurations including 90° sector and full 360° setups and can operate as standalone units or integrated into broader air defence networks. The company holds multiple patent applications covering its detection technologies.

The funding will be used to expand engineering teams, advance radar and signal processing development, and move from prototype to field-tested systems ready for operational deployment.

Molfar is also establishing an office in Ukraine to support closer collaboration with armed forces and accelerate real-world testing and validation, with field trials planned across Ukraine and NATO countries.

According to Maks Dzherikhov, co-founder and CSO at Molfar Defence Technologies: “Molfar was created to give defence units earlier visibility against micro drones and small UAVs. We are building tactical radar systems that can be deployed close to the units that need them and scaled across real defence environments."
