Lugo FoodTech Startup Sensesbit Secures €1 Mn to Boost Global Growth

Sensesbit is a FoodTech startup based in Lugo that specializes in advanced sensory analysis for the food industry. The company has raised €1 million in a new funding round to support its growth and expand its business into international markets.

The funding round was backed by Clave Capital, Eoniq Fund, WindOne Consultores, and Paraíso Natural Ventures, the investment arm promoted by Grupo Central Lechera Asturiana. This investment will help Sensesbit speed up its global expansion plans.

Maruxa Quiroga, CEO and co-founder of Sensesbit, said, “For decades, the industry has focused on optimising costs, processes, and production. The next major competitive leap will be understanding, measuring, and anticipating what consumers feel. That is Sensesbit’s mission: to make Sensory Intelligence the new standard for strategic decision-making in the food industry.”

“We do more than analyse perceptions; we translate science into decisions with financial impact. We have combined scientific expertise with artificial intelligence to enable companies to produce exactly what consumers are willing to buy again,” added Quiroga.

Sensesbit was founded by four scientists from a research group at the University of Santiago de Compostela. The company is a joint venture between USC and UNIRISCO.

The company offers a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platform that helps food companies create better products. Its goal is to improve the chances of product success while reducing the risks involved in innovation.

Sensesbit uses statistics and artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze sensory data such as taste, smell, and texture. It turns this data into useful insights that help businesses make smarter decisions.
