LOTECH Raises $12Mn Series A to Expand Its Blockchain-Based Trading Infrastructure

London-based LO:TECH, a financial technology company focused on capital markets, has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round.

SUMMARY

  • London-based LO:TECH has raised $12 million in a Series A funding round.
  • The round was led by MMC, with participation from Faction, 13 Books Capital and Atka.
  • The company was founded by Tim Meggs (CEO) and Marcus Horsley (CTO).

The funding round was led by venture capital firm MMC, with participation from existing investors Faction and 13 Books Capital, along with new investor Atka. LO:TECH is building financial infrastructure for markets that operate 24 hours a day using blockchain technology.

"Capital markets were built for a world that opened at 8am and closed at 4.30pm. That's not how risk is traded any more. The best trading firms in the world are technologically advanced, but they grew up on top of traditional market infrastructure. We built ours from scratch for markets that run 24/7, onchain and across every asset class, "said Tim Meggs, CEO and co-founder of LO:TECH.

Marcus Horsley, CTO and co-founder of LO:TECH, added: "Fintech and digital asset platforms are moving into territory that used to belong to Wall Street. To do that well, they need trading partners built for how these markets actually work. There is room for a capital markets firm that grew up in digital assets to compete with the largest names in traditional finance, and we think that firm can be built in London."

LO:TECH was founded by Tim Meggs and Marcus Horsley. The company develops trading technology that allows financial firms to trade continuously across different markets and asset types.

LO:TECH announces a $12M Series A led by MMC.

Its platform supports traditional financial markets, digital assets and prediction markets. It is designed to help financial firms trade and manage transactions across different platforms.

Traditional financial markets usually operate during fixed trading hours, while digital asset markets remain open 24 hours a day. As more financial assets move onto blockchain-based platforms, trading firms need technology that can support both traditional and digital markets.

LO:TECH will use the new funding to expand into the US and Asia-Pacific regions. It plans to establish offices in New York and Singapore, grow its trading services for institutional clients and obtain the required regulatory approvals in new markets, including exploring licensing options in the US.
