Callosum Raises $100 Million Seed Funding to Build Flexible AI Infrastructure Across Chips and Models

UK-based AI startup Callosum has raised $100 million in a Seed funding round. The company is developing software infrastructure that allows AI workloads to run across different chips and AI models.

Callosum previously raised $10.25 million in February 2026, when it came out of stealth mode. The company was founded by neuroscientists from Cambridge.

Callosum takes a different view from the idea that future superintelligent AI will depend on one powerful AI model running on the same type of chips.

Callosum says its technology can make it faster and cheaper to solve complex real-world problems at scale. Its approach has received support from the UK AI minister and the CEO of US chipmaker Cerebras. The company has also announced a partnership with Cerebras.

Callosum is challenging the idea that the future of AI will depend on making one AI model bigger and running it on the same type of chips.

The company says this approach requires large amounts of energy and money. It can also make AI development more dependent on a small number of powerful companies.

According to Callosum, this model can give companies such as Nvidia, OpenAI and Anthropic greater control over the AI industry and its infrastructure.

Callosum believes real-world problems are complex and different from one another. They often require different AI capabilities, which is why the company is building technology that can work across different AI models and computing chips.

Kanishka Narayan, Minister for AI, said: "By integrating Cerebras into Callosum's platform, we're making ultra-low-latency inference available exactly where it creates the greatest impact, enabling customers to build AI systems that simply weren't practical before."
