SUMMARY
- Spaceflux, a London-based space intelligence company, has raised an additional £3.5 million in an extension to its seed round, taking its total funding to £9 million.
The round was led by existing investor Blackfinch Ventures with continued participation from Foresight Group and the UK Innovation and Science Seed Fund (managed by Future Planet Capital, with backing from the UK Space Agency and the Ministry of Defence).
A key new investor in this extension is Tokyo based SPARX Asset Management via its Space Frontiers Fund II, marking Spaceflux’s first international institutional investor and expanding its presence into Japan.
The funding will accelerate development of Spaceflux’s AI-driven space intelligence systems, including its Cortex platform and “Pattern of Life” analytics, aimed at supporting sovereign and operational deployments for allied governments. It also strengthens the company’s positioning in defence and space-domain awareness markets.

The raise follows several major contract wins. Spaceflux recently secured all three UK government space surveillance and tracking contracts under the National Space Operations Centre framework, reinforcing its role in delivering sovereign orbital intelligence. Internationally it was selected by MDA Space to support Canada’s Surveillance of Space 2 programme.

The company is also involved in NATO’s DIANA initiative and has demonstrated advanced cislunar tracking capabilities in collaboration with UK Space Command and the UK Space Agency during the Artemis II mission.
Overall, the round signals growing international demand for sovereign space surveillance and AI-enabled orbital intelligence capabilities, with Spaceflux expanding its footprint across the UK Canada, NATO partners and now Japan.
Founded in 2022, Spaceflux develops Space Domain Awareness (SDA) and space intelligence services by combining data from its global network of optical sensors with its proprietary AI platform, Cortex.
The company’s latest funding round is aimed at scaling its infrastructure, expanding into new international markets, and strengthening sovereign-grade space intelligence capabilities for allied governments and commercial operators worldwide.
Dr Marco Rocchetto, CEO and co-founder of Spaceflux, said: “This funding round validates the scale of Spaceflux’s credibility, sovereign-grade technology, and transition from early growth to operational scale. After delivering all three UK Government space surveillance and tracking contracts, being selected by Canadian company MDA Space as an optical systems provider for the Canadian government, and joining NATO DIANA, we are now scaling our AI-powered space intelligence internationally. Bringing in SPARX as a new Japanese investor, alongside continued support from our existing backers, is a clear signal that the demand for allied space intelligence is global.”
