Amyl Therapeutics secures €8.25M Series A extension to validate novel neurodegenerative disease platform

Sep 1, 2026 | By Oliver Bennett

Amyl Therapeutics, a preclinical stage biotechnology company developing an innovative technology platform to treat diseases linked to amyloid fibrils, today announces the successful completion of an €8.25M ($9.4M) extension of its Series A financing, with half of the funding provided through public grants and half by new private investors, including family offices and business angels, who have chosen to remain undisclosed, and existing shareholders, including Noshaq and Merieux Equity Partners.

In a market where financing for early-stage European biotechnology companies remains highly selective, this latest investment reflects the continued confidence in Amyl Tx’s differentiated approach and the strength of its scientific results.

The proceeds will enable the company to finalize development of its fully characterized clinical candidate ready for GMP manufacturing, while generating the remaining preclinical in vivo efficacy and safety data required to validate its platform.

This investment also marks an important step in Amyl Tx’s organizational growth. One of the company’s new lead family office investors will join the board of directors. To accommodate its expanding research activities, Amyl is extending its laboratory facilities at the LegiaPark life sciences campus in Liège and will double the size of its R&D team.

"This financing is an important endorsement of both our science and our vision. We are deeply grateful for the continued confidence shown by our investors and public partners, whose support enables us to reach the next critical stage of our development,’ said Pierre Vandepapelière, co-founder, CEO and CMO of Amyl Therapeutics. “Our results already demonstrate that our fusion protein combines the therapeutic strengths of three monoclonal antibodies while addressing many key limitations in brain delivery and safety. Ultimately, our aim is to deliver a genuine breakthrough for the millions of people living with devastating neurodegenerative diseases."

A uniquely positioned pan-amyloid immunotherapy platform

Unlike current antibody therapies that each target a single pathological protein, Amyl Tx is developing a single therapy, a fusion protein designed to recognize and neutralize the common amyloid structure shared by multiple toxic (amyloid) protein aggregates, (amyloid beta, tau and alpha-synuclein), implicated in Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and related neurodegenerative diseases.

Amyl Tx’s platform also incorporates a ‘brain shuttle’ technology that significantly enhances passage across the blood-brain barrier, overcoming an important limitation for existing biologics. In addition, Amyl Tx’s therapeutic design has been engineered to reduce the risk of potential side-effects, ARIA (Amyloid-Related Imaging Abnormalities), and anemia observed with current anti-amyloid-beta monoclonal antibodies, potentially offering a superior safety profile.

“We have continued to invest in Amyl Therapeutics because its platform has the potential to redefine how neurodegenerative diseases are treated. The team has consistently delivered on scientific milestones and this financing provides the resources to generate the critical data that will strengthen the company’s clinical path,” said Valérie Calenda, managing partner at Merieux Equity Partners.

Since its creation, Amyl Tx has built significant financial and scientific momentum, raising €10.8M at launch in March 2021, including €5.1M in-kind contribution for the acquisition of its IP and €2.2M in non-dilutive grants. The company obtained €5M in additional shareholder investment during 2023-2024 and €3.8M in non-dilutive support from the Walloon Region, Belgium. Today’s €8.25M brings its total funding to €27.85M.

“As a long-standing shareholder, Noshaq has witnessed Amyl Therapeutic’s steady scientific progress and the exceptional expertise and unwavering commitment of its  team. We are proud to continue supporting Amyl as it reaches the pivotal in vivo milestones that will position the company for its next phase of growth,’ said Hélène Sabatel, investment manager at Noshaq.

The financing process was advised by THM Capital Advisory, led by Thomas Mitard, with legal counsel provided by Quinz and legal and financial support from Financial Way.

About Alzheimer’s disease
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) represents one of the largest unmet medical needs globally, with over 55 million people affected by dementia as of 2020, a figure projected to exceed 139 million by 2050. AD alone accounts for up to 70% of dementia cases. Despite recent therapeutic breakthroughs, current treatments remain modest in efficacy, limited in scope and burdened with safety concerns.

About Amyl Therapeutics
Amyl Therapeutics is a preclinical-stage biotechnology company pioneering Multi-Amyloid Immunotherapy, a universal approach to treating amyloid-mediated neuro-degenerative diseases. Amyloid aggregates are involved in more than 30 disorders, including high-burden neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s and dementia with Lewy bodies.
The pan-amyloid binding and amyloid fibril remodeling capabilities of Amyl Tx's therapeutic candidates position them to be maximally effective and transforming therapeutics for amyloid-related neurodegenerative disorders.
Headquartered in Liège, Belgium, Amyl Therapeutics was founded in November 2020 by Dr. Florent Gros and Dr. Pierre Vandepapelière. The company employs eight staff.
Founding investors include Noshaq, Merieux Equity Partners, Smedvig Funds, JFG Life Science Foundation, 6K Venture Capital and others.
