[Funding alert] Cambridge-based Xampla Secures €6.4 Million in Funding

Cambridge-based Xampla secures €6.4 million in funding. The money will be utilized to increase the manufacturing of the plant-based, biodegradable materials manufactured by the UK company, helping major brands to abandon single-use plastic.
With additional money from current investors Amadeus Capital Partners, Horizon Ventures, Cambridge Angels, Cambridge Enterprise, and Martlet Capital, the funding round showed a strong level of investor confidence in Xampla.

CIECH Ventures, a clean tech supporter that is a member of a multinational emerging chemical firm with over 3,000 employees, is one of the new investors. Xampla has invested a total of €20.6 million thus far.

This new funding will support the expansion of our Morro material into new territories and new applications and enable us to make a big impact. The fresh funding infusion will be carefully used to extend the reach of Xampla's consumer brand, Morro, into new geographies. Strong, grease- and oxygen-resistant, completely biodegradable, and safe for food, Morro materials are the result of fifteen years of study at the University of Cambridge.

With this investment, Morro Coating's applications will grow, eventually replacing plastic-based coatings in takeout boxes, sachets, and cups.
