SUMMARY
- Tracebit, a cloud-native cybersecurity company focused on threat detection, has raised $20 million in a Series A round led by FirstMark with participation from Accel, MMC Ventures Tapestry VC and CCL.
This follows the company’s $5 million seed round in 2024 bringing total funding to $25 million.
Founded in 2023 by former Tessian employees Andy Smith (CEO) and Sam Cox (CTO) Tracebit develops cloud-native deception technology for modern infrastructure.
Its platform deploys decoy assets known as canaries across environments to detect threats early and support an “assume breach” approach to security. The solution scales threat detection across cloud environments by generating tailored canaries across enterprise networks, reducing detection times.

Tracebit currently supports thousands of accounts, monitoring around five billion events weekly and generating millions of canaries daily for clients including Riot Games, Snyk, Synthesia, Docker, and Admiral Insurance. To address increasingly complex cloud environments, the system now extends beyond AWS to support Azure, Kubernetes, CI/CD pipelines, developer workstations, and identity providers.
Alongside the Series A, Tracebit is introducing new products, including Perimeter Canaries, Deceptive Artefacts, and Google Cloud Platform support. Perimeter Canaries place decoys at the edge of SaaS and cloud environments, adding an extra layer of defense and enabling faster detection critical as AI-driven attacks grow more sophisticated.
The Series A funding will support product rollout, customer base expansion, and growth of Tracebit’s go-to-market and engineering teams.
