An global venture capital firm called Satgana has raised €8 million in its first round of fundraising from over 100 LPs in 25 countries. The firm will invest in climate tech startups across Europe and Africa.

Satgana invests initial tickets ranging from €100,000 up to €300,000 at the Pre-seed and Seed stage, with a strategic focus on early-stage climate tech. After carefully going over more than 2,500 founders' decks, the company has closed 13 agreements thus far.

Past investments include Kubik's initiatives to create low-carbon buildings from waste materials, Amini AI's datasets bridging Africa's environmental data gap, and Y Combinator alum Orbio Earth, which records methane emissions to provide insight to potential investors.

Satgana thinks that having a diverse team that reflects the founders it invests in, together with a "broad sourcing engine," is the secret to its success in both European and African markets.

Members of the Family Oces, impact investors, unicorn founders, and well-known businesspeople like Publicis Groupe Chairman of the Supervisory Board Maurice Lévy are among the advisors and limited partners who have subscribed to the fund.

Satgana is categorised as a "dark green fund" or an SFDR Article 9 fund because of the high degree of conformity that its operations exhibit with regard to global sustainability goals.

In a similar vein, it became a B Corp lately. With a goal of having a portfolio of thirty businesses, Stagana hopes that its first fund will open the door to many more, speeding up the shift to a low-carbon economy.

Romain Diaz, General Partner of Satgana, commented: “Our mission is to identify and support the brightest minds and hearts driving innovation in Climate Tech, propelling them towards commercial success while making a positive impact on our planet.”
