Rulen Bags €1.8 Mn to Expand AI-Powered Tax and Accounting Automation Platform

Italian AI startup Rulen, formerly known as LexSA, has raised €1.8 million in its first funding round. The company will use the funding to improve its AI-powered platform for tax and accounting professionals and support its business expansion.

SUMMARY

  • Italian AI startup Rulen has raised €1.8 million in its first funding round, led by VC Partners.
  • Other investors include Growth Engine, AME Ventures, Zest, Alpha Venture and industry business angels.
  • Founded in 2025, Rulen develops AI tools to automate tax and accounting tasks.

The round was led by VC Partners, with investments from Growth Engine, AME Ventures, Zest through its Magic Mind vehicle, Alpha Venture and several business angels from the industry.

Simone Hong, co-founder and CEO of Rulen, explained that the company was created in response to challenges experienced directly by its founders, particularly the difficulty of recruiting junior professionals and the time spent on repetitive administrative work. He added: "Our goal is to make AI adoption simple, concrete and scalable. With this round and the move to Rulen, we want to accelerate our transformation from assistant to agentic platform, capable of automating end-to-end workflows without professionals losing control and verifiability."

Claudio Cama, co-founder and CTO of Rulen, said the company plans to automate more tasks by connecting with additional systems and developing AI agents that can complete work independently.

This will help tax and accounting professionals spend less time on routine tasks and focus more on important decisions.

With the new funding, Rulen plans to improve its product, grow its business and expand its team. It will focus on hiring people for sales, marketing and product development, as well as bringing in more tax specialists.

Launched in late 2025, Rulen has developed an AI-powered platform that automates tax and accounting tasks. It helps professionals reduce repetitive work and manage tax and compliance processes more efficiently.

The platform connects with existing software and other systems, including the Italian Revenue Agency’s online taxpayer records, known as Cassetto Fiscale. This allows accounting firms to automate tasks such as collecting data, reviewing information and preparing documents while keeping professionals involved in the process.

Rulen aims to address key challenges in Italy’s tax and accounting sector, including a shortage of young professionals and an increasing workload related to compliance. New registrations in the profession have fallen by 27.3%, while professionals under the age of 40 make up just 15% of the sector.

Many accounting firms still rely on manual work and disconnected software systems. Rulen aims to help these businesses automate routine tasks, handle more work efficiently and grow without needing to increase their staff at the same rate.
