Polestar Capital states that the mobility sector is the second-largest producer of CO2 emissions, so shifting to zero-emission logistics is key for both environmental and business sustainability. However, to make this transition, Europe will need more than €120B by 2030 for infrastructure and electric vehicles, and securing funding is difficult.

Banks are hesitant to offer long-term funding, and venture capital is often not a good fit. PCEIF aims to address this gap by providing structured loans to growing or transitioning companies in North West Europe helping them scale up their efforts.

Jan-Willem König, CEO of Polestar Capital, says, “The shift to zero-emission logistics is one of the biggest opportunities to accelerate decarbonisation. We see a growing demand for financial solutions that help companies transition without compromising their business models. Through our various funds, we have already issued a record €490M in impact loans in 2024 alone. With PCEIF, we are now expanding our impact to the zero-emission mobility sector, ensuring that businesses have the financial support needed to accelerate their transition.”

PCEIF is a fund that supports sustainable investments in the mobility sector by offering loans to companies that reduce greenhouse gas emissions and air pollution.

It is an SFDR Article 9 fund, meaning it focuses on investments that have clear environmental benefits.

The fund focuses on three main areas:

  • Charge point operators: Companies that create and manage public charging stations for electric cars, vans, and trucks.
  • Depot charging: Charging stations at logistics hubs and industrial areas to support fleet operators.
  • EV fleet operators: Companies in logistics and leasing that are switching their vehicles from fossil fuels to electric power.

PCEIF aims to speed up the shift to cleaner transportation by funding these areas. The fund is also working with institutional investors who focus on environmental impact.
