Pelago Bioscience Buys RG Discovery, Expanding Drug Discovery Capabilities

The acquisition adds expertise in medicinal chemistry, custom synthesis, and integrated drug discovery to Pelago’s capabilities.

By combining Pelago Bioscience’s strengths in biology with RG Discovery’s expertise in chemistry, the expanded platform will help drug discovery teams make faster decisions, improve workflows, and move projects more efficiently from early-stage discovery through lead optimization.

Pelago Bioscience’s proprietary CETSA®-based platform helps researchers understand how drug compounds interact with their targets inside living cells. This information can be used directly by RG Discovery to guide the next round of compound design and development.

By combining chemistry and biology capabilities in one platform, the two companies create a continuous discovery process that connects compound design, synthesis and in cell target engagement testing. This reduces the need to move work between multiple vendors, helping drug development programs progress more quickly from hit identification to lead optimization.

RG Discovery has built a strong reputation for helping biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies solve complex chemistry challenges. The company employs around 40 scientists, and is based at Medicon Village in Lund, Sweden. Its facilities include advanced chemistry, and analytical laboratories that support a wide range of drug discovery and development activities.
