Norsepower Raises €4.53M Funding To Accelerate Global Scale-Up

This brings Norsepower’s total funding to €70 million since 2012. The company is also planning to raise another €30 million to support global expansion, boost manufacturing, and enhance its digital tools.

Norsepower is a pioneer in wind-assisted ship propulsion, with 32 Rotor Sails™ installed on 18 vessels operated by companies like IINO Lines, Oldendorff, and Union Maritime. As shipping faces stricter fuel and emission rules, demand for Norsepower’s reliable tech is rising.

The Rotor Sail™ uses wind to cut fuel use by 5–25%, and in some cases, up to 50%, depending on the ship and route. It’s a fully mechanical system and runs with zero emissions.

In 2023 Norsepower launched the world’s first rotor sail factory in Dafeng, China. The facility delivers pre-assembled, tested sails ready for installation, supporting fast global deployment. By 2027, it plans to produce 100 units annually.

Norsepower combines wind propulsion with digital tools like Sentient Control™ and Norsepower Cloud, helping shipowners boost performance and meet new regulations. With upcoming rules like IMO’s GHG Strategy and FuelEU Maritime, real-time thrust monitoring is becoming essential — and it's a key advantage of Norsepower’s system.
