Mouro Capital Raises $400M For New Fund Backed By Banco Santander

With this latest fundraise, the venture capital firm’s total committed capital has surpassed $1 billion.

Mouro Capital operates as an independent venture capital firm specialising in financial services and technology investments. Since its launch in 2015, the firm has invested in startups across North America, Europe and Latin America, supporting businesses from seed stage through Series C funding rounds.

The firm’s investment approach focuses on next-generation technologies transforming the financial sector including artificial intelligence, data infrastructure, blockchain and governance, risk and compliance solutions.

The new fund will prioritise opportunities in capital markets, wealth management, insurtech, and AI-powered enterprise infrastructure.

He added that Mouro Capital sees significant growth potential in sectors such as capital markets, wealth management, and governance, risk and compliance technologies, fuelled by advancements in artificial intelligence and blockchain.

The firm also identified insurtech as a relatively underserved market where it intends to deepen its investment activity.

Mouro Capital has already deployed capital from the new fund into seven companies, including ElevenLabs and Sakana AI, highlighting its emphasis on AI-led innovation across financial services and enterprise technology.

The firm said the fund will continue backing founders building fintech and enterprise infrastructure solutions, while also reserving capital for follow-on investments in existing portfolio companies.
