Magic Vision raises €600k for Silver Eye, its AI-powered elderly care technology

Italian deeptech startup Magic Vision has raised €600,000 to develop its AI and computer vision technology for older people and vulnerable individuals.

SUMMARY

  • Magic Vision raised €600,000 to bring its AI-powered elderly care technology to market.
  • The round includes SixS and Italian business angels.
  • Founded in 2023, the startup is led by CEO Lorenzo Mauri, CTO Federico Lanzani, and CFO and COO Matteo Labadini.

The funding round includes investment from SixS, the Italian company behind Gecos, a management software platform for nonprofit organisations, along with Italian business angels with experience in law, compliance and business development.

Magic Vision has also received support from PoliHub, ComoNExT’s NExT Accelerator and Paradigma Exponential Hub. These programmes helped the startup connect with investors. It also received a €30,000 award from the Milan Monza Brianza Lodi Chamber of Commerce through the Switch2Product programme.

The new funding has helped Magic Vision complete development and launch its product, Silver Eye. The technology uses AI and environmental sensors to detect falls, spot changes in behaviour and identify potential risks. It works without requiring users to wear any devices.

“Population ageing is putting pressure on care systems, which must meet growing needs with increasingly limited resources and staff. Technology can make a practical contribution by enabling continuous monitoring and timely intervention when needed,” says Lorenzo Mauri, co-founder
and CEO of Magic Vision “With Silver Eye, we want to enable new care models that help older people remain independent while supporting families and care professionals. The funding has allowed us to bring the technology to market and prepare for our next phase of growth”.

“The idea for Silver Eye came from a personal experience: when my grandfather fell and remained on the floor for an entire day, I started looking for a solution that could prevent something similar from happening again,” says Federico Lanzani, co-founder and CTO of Magic Vision. “Wearable devices, emergency buttons and other available systems had significant limitations. We therefore decided to use our expertise in artificial intelligence to develop technology capable of recognising risks without requiring a person to wear a device or call for help”.

Magic Vision was founded in 2023 by six co-founders, including CEO Lorenzo Mauri, CTO Federico Lanzani, and CFO and COO Matteo Labadini. Based in Meda, in Italy’s Monza and Brianza province, the startup develops AI and computer vision technology to support older people and vulnerable individuals.

Its main product, Silver Eye, monitors daily activities and helps older people live more independently. The system uses AI to detect falls and changes in behaviour, activity and sleep patterns. It then alerts caregivers to possible risks. The technology processes data locally to help protect users’ privacy.

Magic Vision is already testing and using Silver Eye in pilot and commercial projects with long-term care providers across Italy.
