Limetax Raises €36 Mn to Transform Germany’s Tax and Accounting Industry with AI

Berlin-based fintech startup Limetax has raised €36 million in funding, including €6 million in pre-Seed equity and a €30 million credit facility.

SUMMARY

  • Limetax has raised €36 million in total funding.
  • The equity round was led by Motive Partners, with Activant and Heliad participating.
  • The company was founded in 2026 by Gamon, Maximilian Meyer, and Christoph Dansard.

The €6 million equity round was led by New York-based Motive Partners, with Activant and Heliad also taking part. The €30 million credit facility was provided by a group of German banks.

The funding round also included well-known investors such as former German Finance Minister Christian Lindner, Alexander Kudlich, former Rocket Internet executive and co-founder of 468 Capital, and Anton Rummel and Ante Spittler, the founders of fintech unicorn Moss.

“The future of accounting & tax advisory will not be built by adding another AI tool. It will be built by rethinking advisory and technology together from the ground up. Together with our partner firms, we are building a group where our agentic platform becomes the technological backbone of day-to-day work,” said Christoph Gamon, co-founder and CEO of Limetax.

“In accounting and tax, the constraint is not demand, it is capacity. Limetax is building technology where the work actually happens: together with the partner firms and deeply embedded in their operations,” said Michael Hock, Partner, Venture at Motive Partners.

Limetax was founded by Gamon, Maximilian Meyer, and Christoph Dansard to address the challenges faced by nearly 54,000 tax and accounting firms in Germany. The company was launched in January 2026.

Before starting Limetax, Gamon co-founded Razor Group and served as its CFO. He helped the company grow to a reported valuation of more than $500 million. He had previously worked at Rocket Internet and UBS’s investment banking division in London.

Maximilian Meyer was part of Razor Group’s founding team and later led an operations division with more than 100 employees. Before joining Razor Group, he worked at Lazard and N26.

Christoph Dansard was a founding engineer at fintech company Augustus, formerly known as Ivy. He also studied at the Technical University of Munich.
