Hadrian Raises $40 Mn to Tackle the AI Hacking Cyber Security Crisis

Cybersecurity company Hadrian, which uses agentic AI for offensive security, has raised $40 million in a new funding round. The round was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International and SmartFin, with support from existing investors including HV Capital, Motive Partners, Picus Capital, and Oetker Ventures. The new investment brings Hadrian’s total funding to $65 million.

SUMMARY

  • Hadrian has raised $40 million in a new funding round, bringing its total funding to $65 million.
  • The round was co-led by Forgepoint Capital International and SmartFin.
  • Hadrian plans to use the funding to expand across EMEA and the U.S. and strengthen its engineering and research teams.

The company will use the funding to expand its business across Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), and the U.S., while also increasing investment in its engineering and research teams.

The funding comes as AI is changing the way cyberattacks are carried out. AI agents are becoming capable of performing more parts of an attack with little or no human involvement. At the same time, many security teams still rely on traditional manual penetration testing. Hadrian says 87% of organisations still use manual pentests, making it difficult for teams to keep up with increasingly automated attacks.

Security teams also face a large number of alerts that may not represent real threats. According to Hadrian, more than 70% of security teams struggle to identify which exposures can actually be exploited, while only 0.47% of vulnerability scanner findings were found to be genuinely exploitable.

Hadrian aims to solve this problem by looking at a company's systems from a hacker's point of view. Its platform maps a company's digital footprint, identifies potential security risks, and helps security teams focus on the threats that need the most attention. Human security experts remain in control of important decisions, while AI handles repetitive tasks and provides faster and broader security testing.

Rogier Fischer, CEO of Hadrian, said: “Everyone can see that AI is changing the threat landscape. It might also hold the answer, but most people are focused on automating the wrong bits. We have been working with LLMs since before they went mainstream, and we know that AI can work much faster than any human offensive security team. So we built a platform that emulates hackers’ attack paths, helping our customers to understand their key risks and prioritise their security resources appropriately.”

Damien Henault, Managing Director and Partner at Forgepoint Capital International, said: “There are too many vulnerabilities and noise out there for teams to manage, so they need tools that can help them see clearly and think like AI-armed hackers. Hadrian’s AI native always-on solution delivers both depth and breadth and helps its customers to focus on genuine issues and risks, and the companies using its platform are testament to both its innovative approach and the strength of its team, both aspects which make them a natural choice for us to back.”

Saumitra Dubey, Partner at SmartFin, said: “Rogier and his team have built an agentic hacking platform that truly stands apart in the offensive cybersecurity space. Hadrian’s growing enterprise contract values, global customer base and exceptional enterprise retention rates demonstrate both the strength of its product and the team’s ability to execute and win against the largest cybersecurity incumbents. This funding comes at a pivotal moment, accelerating Hadrian’s next phase of growth as we support its ambition to become a global cybersecurity leader and build a nine-figure revenue business.”

Alessio Setaro, Digital Solutions Leader at Leroy Merlin said: “Leroy Merlin runs large omnichannel operations, and every new solution and digital integration adds to what we have to protect. Hadrian helps us to find exposed assets when they run out our control and test them the way an attacker would. That gave our team clear priorities. We're glad to see Hadrian raise this round and keep building.”

Hans Quivooij, CISO at Damen Shipyards said: “Hadrian has changed the way we look at our external attack surface. Instead of relying on periodic assessments and a known inventory, we now have continuous visibility into what an attacker can actually see and potentially exploit. For a global organisation like Damen, that ability to discover unknown exposures and focus our teams on the risks that really matter is where Hadrian delivers its value.”

Hadrian provides an offensive security platform that helps enterprise security teams find and fix security weaknesses before attackers can exploit them. Its AI-powered platform continuously scans, tests, and validates an organisation’s most important security risks.

The platform is trained using the knowledge of experienced ethical hackers and can adapt to each company’s systems and environment. It continuously looks for vulnerabilities, checks whether they can actually be exploited, and helps security teams understand which risks need attention. Hadrian also uses its technology to automatically verify whether security issues have been properly fixed.

The company serves customers around the world, including Fortune 500 companies, helping them strengthen their cybersecurity, prevent sophisticated attacks, and improve their overall cyber resilience.
