Aug 12, 2026 | By Oliver Bennett

Cybersecurity startup Cytix has raised €6 million (around $7 million) in a Series A funding round. The company plans to use the new funding to grow its business and speed up its work in cybersecurity.
SUMMARY
- Cytix, a Manchester-based cybersecurity startup, has raised €6 million ($7 million) in Series A funding.
- The round was led by Northern Gritstone, with participation from existing investors Auriga Cyber Ventures and NPIF II – PXN Equity Finance.
- Cytix aims to help companies manage security risks while continuing to develop and deploy software quickly.
Cytix is focused on solving security problems caused by the rapid pace of software development. As companies update and change their software more quickly, managing cybersecurity risks can become more difficult.
The funding round was led by Northern Gritstone, a UK-based venture capital and investment firm. The firm supports science and technology startups, especially companies based in the North of England.
Cytix’s existing investors also joined the round. These include Auriga Cyber Ventures and NPIF II – PXN Equity Finance, which is managed by PXN Ventures as part of the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund II (NPIF II).

Ben Armstrong, CEO of Cytix says: “We chose Northern Gritstone for their conviction in investing in DeepTech companies in the North of England with global ambition.
“Northern Gritstone and Cytix share the belief that software change is becoming a key risk for organisations and those that build software need a solution that scales with the current pace of development. We’re also grateful to the existing investors that have backed us since the early days and increased their commitment because they’ve seen the thesis play out.”
Duncan Johnson, CEO of Northern Gritstone, says: “The explosion of AI-assisted software development has led to a race to ensure software implementation remains secure. Cytix’s platform aims to help enterprises take a realistic approach, recognising where change carries the most risk whilst allowing businesses to innovate. Northern Gritstone is proud to support another ambitious Manchester-based business in an exciting phase of its growth.”
“Software is changing,” continues Armstrong. “AI-assisted development means change now happens at machine speed. Meanwhile, very few security leaders have control over, or understanding of, those changes from a risk perspective. Right now, existing tools can tell you what vulnerabilities you have, but can’t tell you about the risk. We launched Cytix’ change risk management platform to get control of that risk.”
Founded in 2020, Cytix says rapid software changes are becoming a major security risk for businesses. The rise of AI-assisted coding, agentic workflows, and continuous software delivery is happening faster than traditional security systems can handle.
The company plans to use its new funding to speed up the rollout of its recently launched change risk platform. The platform is built to help organisations better understand the security risks that come with frequent software changes.
Cytix’s platform helps businesses answer three key questions: Does this software change create a security concern? What risks does it introduce? And what action should the company take? This can help organisations respond to software-related risks more quickly and effectively.
