SUMMARY
- Belgian e-bike manufacturer Cowboy secures €5 million in funding and is gearing up for profitability and accelerated growth in 2025.
- Cowboy, which has its headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, was established in 2017 by the startup entrepreneurs Adrien Roose, Karim Slaoui, and Tanguy Goretti.
The mobility business, particularly the bicycle and e-bike sectors, was negatively impacted by supply chain delays throughout the four years of the COVID-19 pandemic, even as cycling interest increased.

Hardware is never simple. Following VanMoof's bankruptcy in July 2023, Cowboy developed the Bikey app to keep tens of thousands of riders riding bikes throughout the world. Moreover, Accell Group, the largest bicycle manufacturer in Europe (Raleigh, Lapierre, Ghost, etc.), is confronted with the enormous challenge of paying off its €1.2 billion debt.
At the center of bicycle manufacturing, Cypress Capital, a new strategic investor and the company's first Asian investor with solid connections in Taiwan, is spearheading the funding.
Half of the world's suppliers of bicycle components are based in Taiwan, the bicycle manufacturing capital. According to Roose, "This makes us more credible as a partner and makes it far easier for us to do business in Taiwan."
Cowboy has managed to maintain the financial support of its current investors, which include Index Ventures, Hardware Club, Future Positive Capital, Isomer, and Exor, in addition to Cypress Capital. By 2025, Cowboy wants to be profitable throughout the entire year.
Caren Huang, Portfolio Manager, Cypress Capital said, "Cowboy is delivering the right product in the right place at the right time. Despite the challenges of a turbulent market, the company has made significant strides by focusing on perfecting hardware design, software upgrades, and business model transformation,".
In addition to this calculated risk, Cowboy is urging its global rider community to take part in this exciting next chapter in the company's history by launching a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube on Monday, September 9.
