SUMMARY
- Biorsaf has raised €5.2 million and acquired Bologna-based food information platform Cooki.
- The deal will create a single platform covering food safety, quality, traceability, nutrition, costs, and labelling.
- The company plans to use the funding and acquisition to expand its business and develop AI-powered food compliance solutions.
The acquisition will create what the companies describe as Italy’s first single platform covering the full food compliance and data management process. It will support areas such as food safety (HACCP), quality control, traceability, nutritional information, cost analysis, and product labelling.
The funding round was led by P101 SGR, with existing investors Maia Ventures, Farming Future, and Toscana Next also participating. Farming Future, Italy’s National Technology Transfer Hub for AgrifoodTech, had previously backed Biorsaf in its first funding round in November 2024.

“Bringing Cooki into the fold rounds out our offering and marks the first step in consolidating a market that is still highly fragmented. Our goal is to scale rapidly, both organically and through market consolidation and technological innovation, putting artificial intelligence to work for the and efficiency of business in the food sector.”
Biorsaf was founded in 2021 in Castell’Azzara, Grosseto, Italy. The company has developed BS-Safe, a platform that helps businesses manage food safety, workplace safety, and water quality digitally.
BS-Safe makes it easier for businesses to move their safety and compliance work online. It helps them manage different processes in one place instead of relying on paper records.
The platform can automate checks and routine tasks, improve traceability, and keep important data and regulatory information in one central system. This helps businesses reduce manual work and manage compliance more efficiently.
Biorsaf says its platform can save users around 30 minutes of work per day. The company also reported that it helped active users reduce operating costs by around €30 million in 2025, while improving efficiency, sustainability, and safety.
BS-Safe is designed for different people involved in the safety and compliance process, including business managers and specialist consultants. Biorsaf has also developed an AI agent for food safety professionals that helps automate monitoring, compliance, and document management.
