Aflabox Secures €1.35 Million Seed Round to Transform Food Safety with AI

The funding round was completed through FoodSeed, a program that supports agrifood startups. FoodSeed is part of CDP Venture Capital’s National Accelerator Network and is managed by Eatable Adventures.

The round also received support from Farming Future, a national agrifood technology transfer hub promoted by CDP Venture Capital SGR in partnership with ToSeed & Partners. The new funding will help Aflabox grow its technology and expand its solutions for the food industry.

Aflabox was founded in July 2024 by Alinovi and Cardillo. The company has developed a portable device that uses UV imaging, artificial intelligence (AI), and location-based data to detect harmful toxins in food.

The platform can identify mycotoxins, check the quality of grains, and help track food safety risks across the agricultural supply chain. This allows farmers and food businesses to detect problems quickly and improve food quality.

According to Aflabox, mycotoxins, especially aflatoxins, are harmful toxins that can affect human health, reduce food quality, lower the market value of crops, and create challenges for selling products in both local and international markets.
