SUMMARY

  • Saltz, a Vilnius-based digital marketplace for the food supply industry, has raised €20 million in Series A funding to expand across Europe, invest in cross-border food trade technology, and grow its team by over 100 employees by 2026.

The funding round was supported by European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Inovo, Lifeline Ventures, and Change Ventures, with participation from strategic angels including Mantas Mikuckas (founder of Vinted), Miki Kuusi (founder of Wolt), and several Shopify executives.

Founded by Andrius Šlimas, Tomas Šlimas, and Reinis Štrodahs, Saltz is a digital marketplace for the food supply industry, connecting professional kitchens directly with verified suppliers.

Accessible via browser and mobile app, the platform consolidates supplier catalogs, ordering, payments and logistics into a single interface, replacing fragmented and manual distribution processes.

Saltz was founded after the team observed how offline and fragmented food distribution remains. Many restaurants rely on multiple distributors, face hidden pricing and navigate time-consuming manual orders, while suppliers struggle to reach customers efficiently or provide value-added services like payment terms and logistics.

Inspired by how marketplace technology transformed global retail, Saltz aims to redefine food sourcing at scale. The company currently operates in 20 countries, offering chefs access to a variety of fresh and frozen meat and seafood products and plans to expand across Europe and eventually worldwide.

With its recent €20 million Series A funding, Saltz intends to scale operations, add more suppliers, enter new European markets, and grow its team across engineering, product, sales, and operations, further accelerating its vision of becoming the main platform for professional kitchens and food suppliers.

“We see a clear path to establishing Saltz as the leading infrastructure for food distribution in Europe and beyond. This funding will allow us to build at speed, invest in better experiences for both chefs and suppliers, and set higher standards for transparency and efficiency in the food supply industry,” said Andrius Šlimas, co-founder of Saltz.
