TurnUp Raises €2 Mn in Seed Round led by Newion

TurnUp, a startup based in Ghent, has raised €2 million in a seed funding round. The round was led by Newion, with additional investment from RDY Ventures.

The company helps dental clinics and medical practices reduce missed appointments and last-minute cancellations, which are common problems in healthcare.

Missed appointments cost healthcare providers billions of euros every year. To fill empty appointment slots, reception teams often have to rely on time-consuming manual tasks such as making phone calls, managing waiting lists, and sending appointment reminders. TurnUp aims to make this process more efficient.

"We always start from the same question: how do we make sure every chair in a practice is filled? No-shows are the biggest obstacle to occupancy. In Belgium, the Netherlands and the UK, we've shown we can solve that problem. Now we want to do the same for every care practice in Europe and then the US. The scale is there, said Koen Lepez, CEO of TurnUp.

Founded in 2022 by Nicolas De Bruyne and Jona Decubber, Koen Lepez became CEO of TurnUp in 2024 after first investing in the company. The startup has built an AI-powered platform that works with existing practice management software to predict missed appointments and automatically take action.

By analyzing patient history, scheduling patterns, and other factors, the platform can identify appointments that are likely to be missed and reach out to patients with reminders and follow-up messages.

The platform also automates tasks such as appointment confirmations, cancellations, rescheduling, and waiting list management. Its AI receptionist, Elissa, can communicate with patients in multiple languages and even outside normal business hours, helping clinics reduce administrative work and make better use of available appointment slots.

Today, TurnUp works with more than 250 healthcare practices across Belgium, the Netherlands, and the UK, supporting over 2,500 dentists. According to the company, its platform has helped prevent more than 500,000 missed appointments and saved receptionists and practice managers thousands of hours of administrative work.
