SUMMARY
- Vienna-based proptech startup Synaps has raised €1.4 million in pre-launch investment after two years of working in secret.
- Synaps aims to make building design easier and faster online. Although architecture is everywhere, its design process is often complicated and fragmented.
Known as the "Figma for Architects," Synaps has introduced a tool that helps architects plan and collaborate, combining all the necessary processes into one platform.
Founder Brendon Ahmeti explains: "We've developed a multiplayer editor that works as simply and intuitively as using a pencil."

Synaps believes that AutoCAD, the industry leader by Autodesk, hasn’t seen much innovation in the last 40 years. It lacks modern features like real-time collaboration, an easy-to-use interface, browser access, and an active community, making it increasingly outdated.

Synaps combines architecture and planning tools and plans to add advanced features like shadows, lighting, and brushes in the future. These features will help users create impressive designs easily.
CPO Kevin thinks AutoCAD won’t catch up soon because it would need to rebuild its product from scratch.
He asserts that over the years, this has made the software "very sluggish, more complex, and harder to learn". "It feels like it takes months or even years to fully master AutoCAD, while with Synaps, it will only take days. Autodesk also has a functioning business model, so they don't see any urgent need for innovation in this area. If things go as planned, we should soon be more agile and versatile in every field. We will offer both old and completely new features, all at a significantly better price-to-performance ratio."
Synaps' software is built for the browser, with new features added regularly. It allows users to have remote feedback sessions and work with different stakeholders at the same time, no matter their location.
Subscribers will pay a clear monthly fee, eliminating the need for expensive licenses. Viewers can use the platform for free. Even before the official launch, the market showed strong interest and demand for change in the industry.
Without any marketing, over 8,000 architects, planners, and others have already signed up for the beta version in the past few months. They will get access gradually to explore new possibilities for their work.
Synaps will start giving access to its platform today. The funding round was supported by various business angels, including former JP Immobilien CEO Martin Müller, Silicon Valley founder Fredrik Björk (CEO of Grafbase), and Austria's Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
According to investor Martin Müller (previously Rendity, Trovato, Puck): "After more than 20 years in the real estate industry and with an IT background, I am well aware of the incredible inefficiencies in building planning. Synaps has all the attributes and the right team to put an end to this chaos in daily collaboration among stakeholders. The product has tremendous scaling potential and could eventually succeed globally."
Synaps is focused on developing its product, with key features like geometric shapes, operations, and real-time collaboration tools (CAD tools) being prioritized.
By the time the full beta version launches in mid-2025, new features like walls, windows, doors, and post-production tools will be available, making the product fully functional by summer.
A new AI feature is also in development, which Synaps believes could transform the architectural design industry.
