SUMMARY

  • Rhonexum, a Swiss quantum technology startup, has raised $1 million in pre-seed funding led by QDNL Participations, with participation from Venture Kick and additional grant support.

Spun out of EPFL’s AQUA Lab and based in Lausanne, Rhonexum develops electronics capable of operating at cryogenic temperatures near absolute zero, essential for reliable quantum computing.

Using proprietary models and software tools, the company designs components with standard semiconductor processes that function directly in cryogenic environments.

By bringing control electronics closer to quantum processors, Rhonexum reduces system complexity and enables more compact, efficient quantum architectures.

Rhonexum was founded by Vicente Carbon and Dr. Hung-Chi Han, combining expertise in cryogenic semiconductor physics, systems engineering, and industrializing deeptech technologies.

In addition to equity funding, the company has received support from Swiss innovation programs, including EPFL Startup Launchpad, Fondation pour l'Innovation Technologique, and the Swiss National Science Foundation.

Rhonexum plans to deliver its first industrial grade cryogenic electronics product to early customers later this year. Potential applications extend beyond quantum computing to include space technologies and advanced sensing.

Vicente Carbon, co-founder of Rhonexum, said the company aims to become a provider of cryogenic electronics for scalable quantum systems, supporting the transition from laboratory setups to large-scale machines while reducing complexity and improving efficiency.
