Standard Chartered has appointed Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) with immediate effect.

  • Standard Chartered has appointed Shebani Baweja as Group Chief Data Officer (CDO) with immediate effect.

Based in Singapore, she will report to Alvaro Garrido, Chief Operating Officer for Technology & Operations and Chief Information Security & Data Officer.

In her new role, Shebani will lead the Group Data Office and oversee the bank’s global data strategy, focusing on how data is governed, managed, and applied across the organisation.

She will be responsible for strengthening data foundations, embedding consistent practices, and accelerating the use of data and analytics to support innovation, growth, and improved decision-making.

Shebani brings over 20 years of experience in data-led digital transformation. She has been with Standard Chartered since 2008 holding senior roles across Wealth and Retail Banking and technology transformation.

Most recently she served as Chief Information Security Officer for Wealth and Retail Banking and International Markets, where she led cyber risk strategy and strengthened governance and controls to support business growth and digitalisation.
