SUMMARY
- Madrid-based ClimateTech startup Clevergy has raised €3.2 million to fuel its international expansion following a threefold growth last year.
The funding round was co-led by Racine² (managed by Serena and Makesense) and Axon Partners Group, with additional support from Satgana, Wayra (Telefónica’s CVC), and Juan Roig’s Angels investment firm.
“Energy retailers have recognised that the industry is evolving and that technology is crucial to staying competitive, enabling households to take on a new role in the energy market,” said Beltrán Aznar, CEO and Co-founder of Clevergy. “We’re already working with leading suppliers in Spain and enabling thousands of families to save on their bills. With this new funding, we can scale that impact across Europe.”
Clevergy’s latest funding to boost international expansion reflects a 2025 trend of European ClimateTech and EnergyTech startups raising capital to scale software-driven energy solutions.

While large rounds like €150 million for Sweden’s Aira and Germany’s Terra One highlight investor interest in decarbonisation infrastructure, smaller rounds €3.8 million for OpusFlow and €4.3 million for Estonia’s Bisly demonstrate growth in SaaS and automation connecting renewable energy assets with end users.
Amid this landscape, Clevergy stands out as one of the few Spanish startups securing international ClimateTech investment, enhancing Spain’s presence in Europe’s digital energy transition.
“Clevergy is solving today’s core challenges for energy suppliers while building the trust and integration needed for tomorrow’s flexibility markets,” said Margaux Bussière, Principal at Racine². “That track record of growth and pragmatic execution is what makes us confident in their European leadership potential.”
Founded in 2022 by Beltrán Aznar, Álvaro Pérez and Juan López Clevergy has quickly become a trusted partner for Spanish energy providers. Its SaaS platform, deployed in hundreds of thousands of homes, offers real-time energy monitoring, optimised solar self-production, and control over smart devices like EV chargers, batteries, and heat pumps.
EU-Startups has tracked Clevergy closely, first reporting on its early momentum in January 2024 after a €1.5 million raise to lead the home energy management market. Later that year, the startup was named among 10 fast-growing Spanish startups to watch and featured in The New Face of Madrid: 10 Startups Defining the City’s Entrepreneurial Spirit.
Europe’s energy sector is undergoing a transformation driven by decarbonisation, decentralisation, and digitalisation. In 2024, renewables generated a record 47.3% of Europe’s electricity, while household adoption of solar panels, batteries, EV chargers and heat pumps surged.
Clevergy’s model addresses this shift by integrating household energy devices into energy suppliers’ operations, supporting Europe’s digital and decentralised energy transition.
