This enables a customizable, auditable sovereign OS to operate alongside Android, letting users switch environments seamlessly. Demonstrations show apps like Signal running in the sovereign OS, enhancing security without hardware changes or limiting normal smartphone use.
Soverli addresses Europe’s push for digital sovereignty and operational continuity by targeting smartphone security gaps, where secure communications and device management rely on the OS. ETH Zurich prototypes attracted public-sector, enterprise, and manufacturing interest, leading to Soverli’s spinout as an independent company.
Soverli initially focuses on mission-critical communications, running public-sector pilots in emergency response and critical infrastructure. Its isolated OS ensures continuity if the primary system fails.
The approach is also being tested for secure enterprise BYOD use. With new funding, Soverli will expand its engineering team, support more devices, enhance mobile management integrations, and grow OEM partnerships.
