Sonexos Raises €5.4 Mn to Scale Its Solid-State Noise Control Technology
Oct 26, 2026 | By Oliver Bennett

Lausanne-based Sonexos, a DeepTech company, has raised around €5.4 million (CHF 5 million or $6.1 million) in new equity funding. The company will use the investment to move its solid-state noise control technology from working prototypes to industrial production.
SUMMARY
- Sonexos raised €5.4 million in new equity financing.
- The round was led by Valquest Partners, with participation from Bosch Ventures, industry angels and private investors.
- The company will use the funding to move from working prototypes to industrial production.
The funding round was led by Valquest Partners, with participation from Robert Bosch Venture Capital GmbH (Bosch Ventures), industry angels and private investors.
Following the investment, Fadi Noureddine, founder and Managing Partner of Valquest Partners, has joined Sonexos' Board of Directors.
“Engineers have always had to trade space and weight for silence. Plasmacoustics removes that compromise. This financing carries it from working prototypes into our customers’ products, at scale,” said Mark Donaldson, founder and CEO of Sonexos.

“Sonexos is addressing a fundamental engineering constraint with a technology that opens a much larger design space for low-frequency noise control. The combination of differentiated science, a strong intellectual-property position and progress with leading OEMs gives the company a credible path toward industrial production,” said Noureddine.

Founded in 2022, Sonexos was started by Donaldson, an entrepreneur with experience in active noise control. He previously founded SoundChip, a company that developed noise-cancelling audio technology for headphones and earbuds used by major consumer electronics brands. SoundChip was later acquired by DSP Group, which is now part of Synaptics.
Sonexos develops solid-state technology designed to reduce low-frequency noise. This includes the constant humming sounds produced by fans, compressors and motors. These sounds can travel through walls and windows and are often difficult to block using traditional noise-control methods.
According to the company, conventional soundproofing materials often need to be thicker and bulkier to block low-frequency noise. They can also restrict airflow. Speaker-based active noise cancellation works well in headphones but can be less effective in larger spaces where sound travels in different directions.
To address this problem, Sonexos has developed its patented Plasmacoustic Metalayer technology. It uses a software-controlled plasma layer to absorb sound directly at a surface. The system is designed to be thin and lightweight, with no moving parts, making it suitable for industrial noise-control applications.
