Solinide Photonics Secures €4 Mn Seed

Swedish deeptech company Solinide Photonics has raised €4 million in Seed funding. The round was co-led by Navigare Ventures and PSV Hafnium, with participation from Chalmers Ventures, Turbine Capital, Norrsken Evolve, and Almi Greentech Fund.

SUMMARY

  • Solinide Photonics has raised €4 million in Seed funding.
  • The Swedish deeptech company develops photonic chips and microcomb technology for faster, energy-efficient data transfer.
  • The company also plans to work with industry partners to bring its technology to market.

Solinide Photonics is a spin-out from Chalmers University of Technology. The company develops photonic chips and microcomb technology that use light to transfer data between computer chips.

Solinide’s technology is designed to help AI data centres handle the growing amount of data moving between chips without significantly increasing power use. The company plans to use the new funding to bring its technology to market and prepare for large-scale manufacturing.

"Solinide has demonstrated that its microcomb technology can achieve the performance required for datacentre links and deliver an integrated rack-mounted product. A key priority now is preparing for commercial readiness, launch and real-world deployment, with the aim of sharing product news very shortly," said Marcello Girardo, CEO of Solinide Photonics.

Founded by Dr. Marcello Girardi, Dr. Oskar B. Helgason and Prof. Victor Torres-Company, Solinide Photonics is a Swedish deeptech company and a spin-out from Chalmers University of Technology. It develops photonic chips that use light to move data between computer chips.

The company focuses on technology that can make data transfer faster and more energy-efficient, especially for AI data centres that need to handle huge amounts of data.

Solinide is working on silicon nitride photonic integrated circuits and microcomb technology. These technologies could help data centres increase performance without a major rise in power consumption.

The new funding will help Solinide grow its engineering and business teams. It will also improve the company’s ability to build and test its technology in-house and prepare it for large-scale manufacturing in Europe.

Solinide also plans to work more closely with industry partners to bring its technology to the market.
