Sirius Game closes €1.3 million round: the EdTech startup making learning more effective through play

Jun 15, 2026 | By Team SR

Sirius Game, an EdTech startup based in South Tyrol with an operational office in Trento, has closed a €1.3 million funding round.

The round was led by Cassa Depositie Prestiti, with the participation of Trentino Invest, Ultra VC, 28Digital and Add Value, confirming the project’s strategic relevance at the European level.

“As Trentino Invest, we chose to invest in Sirius Game because of the potential of the tool it has developed, which can bring profound innovation to teaching by making learning processes more modern, accessible and stimulating. We believe that Trentino, with its autonomy and strong focus on young people, is the ideal setting in which to develop this project, which, in addition to its many applications in schools, can also find strong relevance in corporate training and lifelong learning for adults,” says Fulvio Rigotti, President of Trentino Invest.

The capital raised will allow the startup to strengthen its structure and begin a new phase of growth, focusing on three main areas: technology development, consolidation of its presence in the Italian and international school system, and acceleration in the corporate training segment. Thanks to this round, Sirius Game has also launched JOY, a new educational product for primary schools, developed in collaboration with Il Gruppo Editoriale La Scuola and the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano.

The goal of Sirius Game is to make learning more engaging, effective and long-lasting, complementing traditional educational models in order to overcome their limitations.

At the heart of Sirius Game is a problem shared by both schools and companies: learning is still often perceived as passive, not very engaging and limited in its long-term impact. Sirius Game addresses this challenge through a game-based learning model, grounded in scientific evidence and applicable to different educational and organisational contexts. Through challenges, missions and interactive activities, learners take an active role in the learning process, developing transversal skills such as critical thinking, collaboration and digital awareness.

Founded by Laura Cesaro, an entrepreneur in the education sector with over ten years of experience between academic research and field application, Sirius Game was born at the intersection of pedagogy, technology and social impact. During her international career, after studying at UCL and Harvard, Laura worked in highly diverse contexts, from educational programmes in vulnerable settings to major international organisations, developing deep expertise in the design of innovative, evidence-based educational models.

Over time, Fabiana Gubitosa and Miriam Torregrossa joined Sirius Game as co-founders, creating a shared vision of education as a lever for social impact and establishing an entirely female founding team.

“This round marks a key milestone for Sirius Game: it allows us to expand the impact of our model and bring game-based learning to a broader scale, both in schools and in companies internationally. We are not talking about making studying ‘more fun’, but about making it more effective and long-lasting” comments Laura Cesaro, CEO and co-founder of Sirius Game “We want to show that learning can be engaging and rigorous at the same time, helping people develop skills that are truly useful to face change”.

With headquarters in Bressanone and an operational office in Trento, the startup operates with an international outlook, maintaining constant dialogue with educational and innovation ecosystems worldwide.
