[Funding alert] Stockholm-based Serverpod Raises €1.7 Million in Pre-Seed Funding
Feb 23, 2024 | By Startup Rise EU
Stockholm-based Serverpod raises €1.7 million in pre-seed funding. The Danish venture firm PreSeed Ventures' fund PSV Tech01 led the round. The firm intends to swiftly double its staff and introduce new services to its already well-liked product with the help of the additional funding.
With over 6 million users, Flutter is a cross-platform programming framework from Google that is revolutionising the app development industry. It's odd that there isn't a backend solution with the same level of appeal in this quickly expanding ecosystem.
However, Swedish company Serverpod has recently made an appearance to close this experience gap with their unique take on a potent backend architecture.

In the computer community, the three people who founded Serverpod are well-known. previous Google Silicon Valley employee Viktor Lidholt worked as a developer on the Flutter team; Isak Dunér was a previous startup founder and CTO; and Alexander Sandor was a former lead Minecraft developer at Mojang. Their wealth of combined experience forms the basis of Serverpod's goal to create cutting-edge developer tools.
The CEO of Serverpod, Viktor Lidholt, began writing code at the age of twelve. He worked as a game developer and product designer in Sweden for more than ten years, including a time spent at Stardoll. Lidholt helped redefine how apps are created and designed by having access to front-row seats and first-hand experience. He also saw quickly that a backend solution was absent from the framework, which would have made developers' lives easier and their technical solutions much more robust.
Co-founder and CEO, Viktor Lidholt said, “With our hosting service, we are removing yet another barrier to quickly bringing an app to market. With over 4500 developers and approximately 500 apps already built using Serverpod, we feel confident that we are filling in a significant gap in the market with Serverpod,”.
GP of PSV Tech01, Alexander Viterbo-Horten said, “Throughout the years, Flutter has become a preferred framework to use for developing apps cross-platform. But for it to be fully scalable and for the apps to truly flourish, it needs a solid backend framework supporting the language. And that’s exactly what Serverpod is delivering,”.
