Scientifica Venture Capital and Innova Venture were among the backers. The money will be used by the business to grow both its operations and growth initiatives.
Sense4Med, a University of Tor Vergata spin-off, is developing printed paper-based electrochemical biosensors and point-of-care instruments that have the potential to revolutionise the way that cystic fibrosis is currently diagnosed. Cystic fibrosis is a severe genetic disease that affects multiple organ systems, primarily the digestive and respiratory systems.

The startup, led by CEO Fabiana Arduini*, a full professor of analytical chemistry at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata" Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies, aims to streamline this diagnostic process with a lab-on-a-chip that can identify the disease quickly, non-invasively, and with just a sweat test in a matter of minutes.
Arduini said: “We are thrilled to be able to say that, thanks to the synergy between Scientifica Venture Capital and Lazio Innova, we will be able to accelerate the development and commercialization of our innovative device for the diagnosis of cystic fibrosis. Our technology offers an advanced and sustainable solution that can radically transform the way disease is diagnosed and managed.“
