Industrial heat makes up over 70% of total industrial energy use, yet it still relies heavily on fossil fuels.
A key challenge is that low-carbon heat solutions often lack economic competitiveness, forcing industrial operators to balance cost pressures with their decarbonisation goals.
Radiant is tackling this challenge with a solar thermal solution designed for industrial applications. Its system combines next-generation heliostats, a proprietary receiver, and thermal energy storage to provide tailored configurations for specific industrial needs.

According to Alexandre Meurisse, CTO of Radiant, the company’s core technology is based on 15 years of R&D at the German Aerospace Center (DLR) and enables the production of hot air exceeding 1,000°C, surpassing current industry standards.
Thomas Delhon, CEO of Radiant, added that the solution offers heat-intensive industries a practical way to reduce emissions while maintaining stable energy costs.
In practice, Radiant’s technology replaces fossil-fuel equipment like gas burners and oil-fired boilers with a solar-powered heat source tailored to industrial processes. Companies in industries such as asphalt, glass, and cement have shown interest in using the solution for equipment including kilns and dryers.
The new funding will support the construction of Radiant’s first industrial demonstrator in Le Mans, aimed at validating the scalability of its technology and demonstrating efficient deployment at industrial sites. Participation in Hexa’s Carbon Zero programme will provide additional support for ongoing development.
Looking ahead, Radiant plans to expand internationally and scale its technology to accelerate the decarbonisation of industrial heat production.
