Berlin-based fintech Pliant has acquired Vienna-based insurtech hi.health to bring its payment expertise into the insurance sector and gain industry knowledge.

This is Pliant’s second acquisition after buying Friday Finance in 2023. hi.health will keep running independently but will use Pliant’s support and resources to make its products stronger and more efficient.

Pliant’s flexible, API-first platform helps businesses manage spending, improve cash flow, and easily connect payments to their financial systems. It's especially useful for industries like travel and fleet that deal with complex payment needs.
Pliant has also built a digital link between insurance companies and customers. With a payment card, users don’t need to pay upfront—they can submit bills, like healthcare or prescription invoices, directly through a mobile app for reimbursement.

hi.health was founded in 2019 by Fredrik Debong (co-founder of mySugr) and Sebastian Gruber (formerly with McKinsey).
