SUMMARY

  • Monte Carlo Capital (MCC), a venture capital firm led by Ian Sosso, has raised €11.7 million for its first fund.
  • Monte Carlo Capital was founded in 2009 by Ian Sosso, a former investment banker.

Ian Sosso, Founder of Monte Carlo Capital said, “I am thrilled to announce the successful closing of our first fund. My ambition is to build one of Europe’s top-performing seed funds. I started investing in early-stage ventures as a personal strategy because I believe that, when executed properly, it is the best-performing asset class,”.

MCC uses a hybrid investment approach, allowing 60% of its portfolio companies to be open for SPV co-investments. This gives Limited Partners (LPs) the chance to diversify, increase their investments over time, and co-invest with top VC firms like Sequoia, Insight Partners, a16z and Thoma Bravo.

MCC focuses on two main areas:

  • Innovative technologies, including AI, space, IoT, and HealthTech.
  • Tech-driven businesses, such as SaaS, fintech, and marketplaces.

Some of their key investments are StarCloud, a SpaceTech company creating large-scale orbital data centers; Klay, an AI music platform backed by Universal Music; and RollStack, a SaaS tool for automating document and slide creation with live data.

Noted one investor. “I have known Ian Sosso for several years and worked with him on multiple deals, investing in four to date, two of which have already exited successfully. Ian sources unique opportunities before others see them, conducts extensive due diligence, and executes with an attention to detail rarely found among professionals,”.

MCC is currently investing with Fund I and is planning to launch its next fund in early 2026, aiming to raise €30 million. The firm will keep offering co-investment opportunities to its LPs strengthening its position as a valuable partner for early-stage companies.

Sosso said, “We will continue co-investing alongside some of the world’s leading VCs—not as lead investors but as highly engaged and value-adding partners. Over the years, we have brought together VC syndicates, introduced chairmen, directors, and key clients. We’ve also stepped in when companies faced challenges, offering hands-on support where needed,”.
