SUMMARY

  • Kontext has raised $4 million in seed funding.
  • The funding round was led by 42CAP.
  • a16z CSX and High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) also participated.
  • The company focuses on securing AI agents as they gain access to code, files and company systems.

The funding round was led by 42CAP, with a16z CSX, the crypto-focused unit of Andreessen Horowitz, and German early-stage investor High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF) also participating.

"An AI agent can be properly authenticated, use an approved tool, and still take an action no one authorized. As agents move from generating text to operating software, companies need a control point at the moment of action. Kontext connects identity with task context and policy to decide what an agent is allowed to do before it happens, "said Jens Ernstberger, co-founder of Kontext.

Kontext was founded by Jens Ernstberger and Michel Osswald. The founders have experience in secure computing, applied cryptography and AI systems.

The Munich-based company develops software that helps organisations see and control what AI agents are doing.

Kontext is focused on the security risks that come as AI agents move beyond chatbots and software development and start working inside businesses. These agents can write code, access files and use company accounts.

As companies give AI agents more access and independence, Kontext aims to help them control what each agent is allowed to do while it is operating.
