Mar 7, 2024 | By Team SR
Berlin-based INSRD secures €500k in pre-seed funding from ecosystem angel investors, which also includes tech leaders and venture capitalists. Among these investors are Florian Huber, Daniel Dippold of EWOR, and Alex Grimm, a former executive at insurtech champion Getsafe.
In order to better support rapidly expanding businesses that are innovative but frequently face novel risk exposures, INSRD is reimagining commercial insurance. Because businesses frequently expand their insurance policies, it's critical to have an adaptable solution that changes with the business.
Prominent firms from IT, venture capital, and other growing industries have become clients of INSRD by means of expert advising, complementary risk solutions, and active risk monitoring.
The Protect & Connect platform, which makes use of sophisticated workflow automation and sector-specific AI, is the foundation of INSRD's technological offering. With the help of this technology, insurance plans are kept up to date and new risks are actively identified and monitored, resulting in seamless client, adviser, and insurer engagement.

The method provides accuracy and scalability in response to shifts in risk exposures, which is critical for emerging sectors like robotics, artificial intelligence, and the creator economy.
While demand for new and niche risks is surging, the number of brokers and agents in the business insurance industry is declining. As a result, dynamic enterprises are left underserved and face risks to their business due to exposures and coverage gaps.
Alex Grimm, formerly of Getsafe, commented: “Insurtech players in the commercial insurance space have been too focused on improving the buying experience and building digital distribution models. The real challenge is keeping coverages accurate with companies that encounter new risk exposures as they develop rapidly. Although buying insurance may be perceived as a hassle, inaccurate coverage at the time of need will lead to more serious problems. INSRD is solving this issue by utilizing cutting-edge technology to ensure coverage accuracy at scale.”
The team at INSRD is prepared for the task. Co-founder of INSRD John Ismailoglu provides seasoned knowledge from across the insurance spectrum, including business, agency, and brokerage responsibilities. He has nearly two decades of experience in insurance from New York and Berlin. He has worked for prestigious insurance companies and has experience with both personal and commercial insurance, specializing in difficult and unique risks.
Stefan Balg, a co-founder, has established tech businesses and developed corporate projects for more than ten years. In 2017, Stefan, a serial entrepreneur, closed his first ad-tech business.
