Good Tape Raises €600K

Copenhagen-based AI transcription company Good Tape has raised €600,000 from Nordic Makers, an investment group founded by former unicorn founders that backs early-stage Nordic startups.

SUMMARY

  • Good Tape raised €600,000 from Nordic Makers.
  • The investment was led by Zendesk co-founder Alexander Aghassipour, who joined Good Tape’s board.
  • Founded in 2022, Good Tape provides secure AI-powered transcription services.

The investment was led by Alexander Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk, on behalf of Nordic Makers. He has also joined Good Tape’s board.

The funding is part of a management buyout, through which Good Tape’s founders have taken over the ownership stake previously held by Danish media company Zetland, which originally incubated the startup.

“Good Tape was built inside a newsroom by people who needed to trust where their interviews ended up. Zetland gave us the room to build it, and we owe them a lot. Now we’re going all in on that trust. With Explore, Good Tape goes from transcribing your interviews to also connecting them, and it’s still safe for your most sensitive material,” said Finderup, co-founder and CEO, Good Tape.

“There is so much uncertainty and scepticism around AI tools right now, that many people are getting too overwhelmed to use them effectively. We need to give people products that they don’t have to worry about, that still leverage the power of AI. Like being able to search and interact intelligently with years worth of interviews, in the way Explore allows,” said Aghassipour, co-founder of Zendesk and partner, Nordic Makers.

Automated transcription you can actually trust

Founded in 2022, Good Tape started as an internal tool at Zetland, a Danish member-funded news organization. It later became an independent company.

The startup was created by journalists who needed accurate transcription while keeping sensitive information secure instead of sharing it with outside service providers.
