Ghent’s Companion.energy Raises €7.8M To Boost Real-Time Energy Management For Enterprises

The round was led by Realyze Ventures (Germany) and Pi Labs (UK), with participation from Asterion Ventures (France) and existing investors.

Founded in 2022 by Thomas Vyncke and Jonas Verstraeten, Companion.energy helps enterprises turn energy management into a competitive advantage.

Its platform provides full transparency over energy economics and uses AI-driven optimisation workflows to improve contract structures and manage assets in real time.

The company serves over 30 enterprise clients across Belgium, the Netherlands, and Switzerland, including TotalEnergies, KPN, Port of Antwerp-Bruges, Interparking, and Proximus Group.

Customers span manufacturing, logistics, telecom, EV charging, and energy sectors. Over the past year, Companion.energy has grown its revenue and customer base tenfold, surpassing €1 million in ARR.

The platform manages more than 2 TWh of annual energy consumption and production, representing around €500 million in energy spend, and supports over 200 MW of distributed energy assets including solar, wind, batteries, e-boilers, and EV charging infrastructure.
