Furo Raises €3.44 Mn to Expand Battery Energy Management Software

Furo, formerly known as Lumera Energy, is a Munich-based energy software company. It has raised €3.44 million (about $4 million) in new funding to develop its software, expand into more European markets, and grow its team.

SUMMARY

  • Furo has raised €3.44 million (about $4 million) in new funding.
  • The round was led by TQ Ventures, with participation from existing investors.
  • Founded in 2025, Furo was started by Voß, Leonie Wagner and Simon Wittner.

The funding round was led by US-based investor TQ Ventures.

Existing investors, including Sandberg Bernthal Venture Partners, the fund of Sheryl Sandberg, as well as Neo and CDTM Venture Capital, also participated in the round.

“Our customers did not buy a battery in order to own a technology, but in order to lower their electricity bill. In one of the most volatile power markets in the world, that is decided by the software, not by the hardware. That is exactly why we founded Furo,” said Lena Sophia Voß, co-founder of Furo.

“Lena, Leonie and Simon understand the European energy market at an extraordinary level of depth. It’s a remarkable example of team-market fit. Together, they bring exceptional technical depth and operational experience in Europe’s most complex power market. That’s already reflected in the number of projects and the data they’ve built up. Coupled with a global market for storage flexibility set to multiply in the coming years, we see this as one of the greatest opportunities in Europe and beyond,” said Schuster Tanger, co-founding partner at TQ Ventures.

Furo was founded in 2025 as Lumera Energy by Voß, Leonie Wagner and Simon Wittner. The three founders met while studying in a joint master’s programme at the Centre for Digital Technology and Management (CDTM) of LMU Munich and the Technical University of Munich.

Furo develops software that helps businesses manage and optimise commercial and industrial battery storage systems.

Its platform forecasts electricity prices and weather conditions up to 48 hours in advance. It then uses this information to manage battery storage in real time.

The company also helps businesses sell unused battery capacity in energy markets. Furo says this is becoming more important as energy demand from AI data centres continues to rise, putting additional pressure on energy-intensive industries, especially in Germany, where electricity prices are already among the highest in the world.
